0. Operator

Rateven is operated by Povilas Konopackas, a sole trader registered in Lithuania, EU (individualios veikla pagal pažymą). Contact: hello@rateven.com.

1. Informational service

Rateven provides information about freelance and wedding-vendor pricing and portfolio assessment derived from public marketplace data. Outputs are informational only. They are not professional, legal, financial, accounting, or tax advice. You are responsible for your own pricing, contracts, and client relationships.

2. No warranty

Rateven is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Price ranges are estimates derived from public data; they are not guarantees of market rates or acceptance by any client.

2a. Methodology disclaimer

Where we cite a source, we cite it in good faith to the best of our knowledge as of the last-updated date. Public sources change, move, or go offline. We do not guarantee any cited URL will resolve, that any study will still be publicly hosted, or that a source will not later be withdrawn. Where a link fails, the underlying figure is still a documented reference to the cited study as of the access date in our records. We update benchmark tables quarterly.

3. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rateven, its operators, contributors, and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, or lost opportunities, arising from your use of or reliance on Rateven, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. For any direct claim, total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid Rateven in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

3a. Pro subscription and 7-day free trial (dev vertical)

Rateven Pro (dev vertical) is a paid recurring subscription at USD 19 per month with a 7-day free trial. Polar (our merchant of record) validates a payment card at sign-up. No charge during the trial. On day 7 your card is charged 19 USD and billing continues monthly until you cancel.

Cancel anytime from the link in the Polar receipt or by emailing hello@rateven.com. Cancel before day 7 and pay nothing; access ends day 7. Cancel after day 7 and access continues through the end of the paid period, no prorate.

Goodwill refund: signed up by mistake and have not used Pro features, email within 7 days of the first charge and we refund the first invoice once as a goodwill exception. We may revoke a license for clear abuse (chargebacks, automated traffic, circumvention of daily ceilings).

3b. Payment processor

Payments for all paid Rateven tiers are processed by Polar Software Inc. (Polar) acting as our merchant of record. Polar is responsible for VAT, sales tax, and consumer-rights compliance for the payment transaction. Polar's terms and privacy policy apply to the payment leg. We never see your full payment details.

3c. Lifetime Founder tier

The Lifetime Founder tier (also called "LTD" or "Founder 100") is a one-time purchase for a fixed number of seats. It is sold by Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record and is made available only while seats remain.

What "lifetime" means. We commit to keep the service running for a minimum of five (5) years from your purchase date. After the 5-year minimum, "lifetime" means the ordinary operational life of the service as we continue to offer it. "Lifetime" does not mean forever and does not create a perpetual obligation on us.

What happens if we shut the service down before 5 years. If we discontinue the Lifetime Founder tier or the wedding-vendor product before the 5-year minimum, every active Lifetime Founder buyer will receive a pro-rated refund equal to:

refund = (remaining full months of the 5-year minimum divided by 60) times price paid

The refund is paid through Polar to the original payment method, net of any third-party processor fees Polar does not return to us. No other damages, lost profits, or consequential amounts are owed.

14-day refund window. You can request a full refund of your Lifetime Founder purchase within 14 days of the purchase date, for any reason, by emailing hello@rateven.com from the email address used at checkout. Refunds are processed through Polar (our merchant of record) and reach the original payment method within Polar's standard refund timing. We do not ask you to waive any consumer-protection right you have under your local law; if your local law gives you a longer window, that longer window applies.

Non-transferable, non-resellable. The Lifetime Founder license is personal to the buyer. It cannot be sold, sublicensed, assigned, transferred, or gifted to any other person or entity, including as part of a business sale, estate, or bankruptcy. We will not honor a license presented by anyone other than the original buyer. Attempts to resell void the license with no refund.

What "features" means. Your Lifetime Founder license includes every feature available in the Rateven Wedding Pro tier as of your purchase date, plus future features we add to Pro during the active life of the service, subject to a fair-use parity cap: if we ship a new feature class whose per-user compute cost exceeds 3 times the cost of the existing Pro feature set (for example, real-time video rendering), we may gate that feature class behind a metered add-on and your Lifetime license covers the base feature set only. Any such gating applies to all tiers, not only Lifetime, and will be disclosed at least 30 days before activation. Features you use remain yours at the volumes they shipped with; we do not retroactively remove or meter features you already paid for.

Bundled one-time rights, not a share in the business. The Lifetime Founder tier conveys only a license to use the service. It is not a security, not equity, not a revenue share, and does not create any partnership, agency, or joint venture between you and the operator.

3e. AI-generated outputs

Some features of Rateven, including the proposal drafter, portfolio grader, red-flag scanner, and calibration verdicts, are generated in whole or in part by a large language model operated by Anthropic PBC (the "AI sub-processor"). Outputs of these features are AI-generated. We mark them as such on the user interface in compliance with Article 50 of the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689).

AI-generated outputs are informational only. They are not legal, financial, tax, accounting, or professional advice. They can contain errors, approximations, or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing every AI-generated output before sending it to a client, publishing it, or relying on it for a business decision.

The limitation of liability in Section 3 applies in full to AI-generated outputs. Use of the AI features sends your inputs to Anthropic PBC as our sub-processor. Anthropic does not train its foundation models on inputs sent through its commercial API as of the date above. See our Privacy Policy, Section 5a, for details on the Anthropic processing relationship and the legal basis for transfer.

3f. Portfolio grader

The portfolio grader accepts images you paste or upload and returns an AI-generated tier label with per-dimension feedback and a descriptive market price band. The following rules apply:

• User-paste only. The grader only processes image URLs or files you submit. We do not auto-fetch, scrape, or harvest images from Instagram, Meta platforms, or any third-party site you have not directly linked to on our form.
• Ownership warranty. By submitting an image, you warrant that you own the image or hold the rights required to submit it for AI-assisted analysis, including any model releases or third-party copyright permissions. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator for any third-party claim arising from images you submitted.
• No persistent storage. Images you submit to the grader are held in transient memory for up to 60 seconds while the analysis runs, then discarded. We do not save submitted images to any database, blob store, or log. The only artifact retained is the scored text result under your share link, which expires after 30 days.
• Descriptive, not prescriptive. The tier label and price band are descriptive of observed market data for comparable portfolios in your metro. They are not a recommendation of what you should charge, not a guarantee of what clients will pay, and not professional advice.
• Human-review option. On any grader result, you may request human review by emailing hello@rateven.com. This is your right under Article 22 of the GDPR to not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing where such a decision produces legal or similarly significant effects for you. We respond within 14 days.

3g. Rateven-Calibrated badge

If you hold an active paid Rateven license, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to display the "Rateven-Calibrated" badge on your share-link pages, website, email signature, and social profiles, only in connection with quotes that were actually generated or verified through Rateven in the prior 90 days.

The license auto-terminates the moment your subscription lapses, is cancelled, is suspended for non-payment, or is revoked for abuse. On termination you must remove the badge from all surfaces you control within 7 days. Continued display after termination is a misleading commercial practice under Article 6 of Directive 2005/29/EC (Unfair Commercial Practices Directive) and may expose you to regulatory action independent of any action by us.

No warranty of subscriber quality. The badge indicates that a quote was produced with Rateven's calibration method. It does not certify the vendor, does not vouch for the vendor's quality, skill, reliability, or business conduct, and does not create any endorsement or agency relationship between the vendor and Rateven.

Third-party reliance. Couples, clients, or other third parties who see the badge do so as passive viewers of the vendor's marketing. Rateven owes no duty to those third parties in connection with their decision to engage or not engage the vendor, and no reliance on the badge by a third party creates a claim against Rateven. The badge links to a public explanatory page describing only the calibration method, not the vendor.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to abuse, reverse engineer, scrape at unreasonable rates, or use Rateven to harass, deceive, or harm any party. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

4a. Prohibited inputs to the red-flag scanner

The red-flag scanner coaches you, the vendor, on the business signals in a client inquiry. It is not a tool for evaluating clients as people. You must not submit text to the scanner that describes, references, implies, or solicits analysis of any of the following attributes of a client or prospective client:

• Race, ethnicity, national origin, or citizenship status
• Religion or religious practice
• Sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression
• Disability, medical condition, pregnancy, or genetic information
• Age
• Marital or family status
• Any other characteristic protected under applicable anti-discrimination law, including Title VII of the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act, EU Directives 2000/43/EC and 2000/78/EC, and the laws of the Republic of Lithuania

The scanner does not evaluate protected characteristics. Its taxonomy is limited to business-pattern signals (budget mismatch, response-cycle length, payment-channel bypass, scope ambiguity, and similar). If the scanner surfaces a flag, the flag refers to vendor-side action, never to a client's identity.

Misuse of the scanner, including submitting prohibited inputs or using scanner output as a reason to refuse service to a protected class, is a material breach of these terms and the sole responsibility of the user. The operator is not liable for any discrimination claim, disparate-impact claim, or regulatory action arising from your misuse, and you agree to indemnify the operator for any such claim. We may suspend or terminate accounts where we detect prohibited inputs.

5. Third-party content

Benchmark entries link to third-party publications. Rateven does not endorse or control those pages and is not responsible for their accuracy, availability, or policies.

6. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site with a revised date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

7. Governing law and consumer-law carve-out

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. Disputes will be resolved in the courts competent for the operator's place of business.

EU consumer carve-out. If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, nothing in these terms limits or waives any right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts and to rely on the non-waivable protections of your local law. Where any provision of these terms is invalid under your local consumer law, that provision is severed and the remainder of the terms continues to apply.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator, its successors, and sub-processors from any third-party claim, loss, liability, regulatory action, or reasonable legal fee arising from (a) content you submit to Rateven, including images submitted to the portfolio grader in breach of Section 3f's ownership warranty, (b) your display of the Rateven-Calibrated badge in breach of Section 3g, including continued display after license termination, (c) your use of the red-flag scanner in breach of Section 4a, or (d) any representation you make to a client that misstates what Rateven outputs mean. This indemnity is bounded to a maximum of USD 50 per incident or the 12-month liability cap in Section 3, whichever is greater, except where applicable consumer law makes the indemnity unenforceable against you.
